14 weeks! Into my 2nd Trimester now!!

It is such a relief to be out of my first trimester and to know that my chances of nothing happening, to this bundle of joy, has went down substantially. I got my weekly update on the progress/growth of my baby and here's what it said....

This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb. Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.

I still get amazed at how much the baby grows and changes in just 7 days.

I am continuing to have a very easy pregnancy so far. I'm just hoping that doesn't mean harder labor. lol

12 weeks now!!

So I am already 12 weeks! It is going by so fast, but at the same time it seems like 18 weeks is taking forever to get here! lol I'm so ready to find out the sex of the baby! I'm ready to shop till I drop, already have a few shopping trips planned with friends and family!

I am so blessed to have the most amazing family and friends! It wasn't a week after I told everyone the news, that I got the CUTEST little onesy (sp?) from a great friend with the sweetest card, made me tear up a little. Thanks Shelly! Then, I got a box, of the most precious clothes, boots, and sleepers!! All gender neutral, of course since we don't know the sex, but I LOVE them all! I love greens, yellows and little aminals! There's this one sleeper that has a baby giraffee and baby elephant hugging, the elephant has its trunk wrapped around the giraffee's neck. awwww so sweet!! Thanks Janet!

The most precious gift we could ever ask for, is coming from Cory's 97 year old Great Grandma Harney. She made a quilt for her first Great Great Grandchild, back several years ago. We were about to stroke out that we weren't going to get that dang quilt, since it was taking us FOREVER to get pregnant. lol However, we did win the race after all ;) Anglea, my mother-n-law, is going to finish the binding and then have it quilted. I will definetly have a very special place in the baby room, for that quilt to hang! On the back of the quilt, my favorite part, is a piece of fabric that Grandma Harney wrote, "To my First Great Great Grandchild Love Grandma Harney" so sweet! It will be in our family forever!

I mentioned before, that I get weekly emails from babycenter.com, that keeps me up-to-date on my babies progress/growth. Well this week, the baby can open and close its hands, make a sucking motion with its mouth, is about 2" (size of a lime), and is starting to kick (even though I can't feel it yet and won't for a while). It's so exciting to hear in just a week, it has grown apx. a 1/2"!

Second Doctors Appointment- September 14th

I was soooooo excited for this appointment! I knew that we should get to hear the heartbeat and I just couldn't wait! Unfortunatly, my husband got called to work only an hour before my appointment so I was bummed that I was going to have to experience this alone :(

I got to the apt and had to wait forever it seemed like! I'm sure it was because I was so excited for it. lol Well, I got into the room and the doc came in this this tiny handheld gagit that had a cord on it with the concave thingy to put on your belly. (like my descriptions? haha) So, he pressed it on my low stomach and got the heart beat immediatly and then lost it. He had to search a few minutes to get it again and soon found it. He calculated the beats were 165 beats per min. I was pleased to find out that there would be no poking and prauding at this apt! It was fast once I got back there. It definetly hit home that I was going to be a mom at this point.

You would think getting a positive test, seeing the baby on the ultrasound at the first apt, and all the symptoms would make me realize this. lol But for some reason, it just didn't sink in until that point. I'm definetly scared of the fact that a baby changes so many things in your life and I'm 100% scared of labor but I know that they are totally worth it and I absolutly cannot wait to start this new chapter in my life.

First Doctors Appointment- August 17th

I was so very nervous! I had never been to a male doctor before for female reasons. The nurse was even like, "you seem aweful nervous today". I told her it was my first child and I had no clue what to expect. She proceeds to tell me, we will take blood, do a pap, pelvic exam, breast exam and ultrasound. I was thinking oh great! Sounds like tons of fun! lol She definetly didn't make me feel more relaxed that's for sure but at least I could somewhat prepare myself for what was to come in the next few minutes.
My doc came in and asked a few questions, then continued the conversation while doing the exam. It made me feel way more comfortable to have a conversation about my job and my husbands job to keep my mind off of what was going on. It definetly eased my mind for my next apt that I would feel comfortable around him.
We got to see the baby, or blob, on the ultrasound and see the heartbeat! It was such an amazing experience! The best way for me to describe it was like little lightening strikes. At this point he said our baby was at 1.6 cm's. I couldn't quite grasp how small that was, until I got on baby center. That is the most amazing website! It keeps me up-to-date on the weekly progress of my baby along with the size, development, etc. It definetly helps first time moms, like myself to know a little more about what is going on.

The Road to Conception

I always swore I would never get one of these things. lol After I got to thinking about it, I think it would be kinda neat to go back, read it and remember all of my adventours of my pregnancy.

This is my first pregnancy and I couldn't be more excited! Cory and I tried for about a year and a half and I started to except the fact that maybe it just wasn't going to happen for us. It seemed like everyone I talked to about it kept telling me, "just quit stressing about it". That's aweful hard to do when you want it so bad and feel like its going to take FOREVER to get. After about a year and a few months, I did just that. I quit timeing, thinking, and worring about it.

About two months after that, I went on my yearly Mary Kay convention and was so engrossed in all that I was learning and excited to be around my amazing friends that I hadn't realized before I left I was already supposed to start. When I got home, from this four day trip, it was then that I realized that I was already six days late! I was thinking, how could I not realize this?!!! So, this was a Sunday night, my husband had just left for work and I thought I would just wait until the morning to take the test. I have always heard to take your tests first pee because your hormones were at their highest. Well after sitting on the couch, stewing about to take a test or not, I figured if I was already six days late, it would come up positive if I was pregnant. So, I decided to take a test and within seconds of peeing on that test it was postive! BAM! I was in total shock because I had convienced myself it was never going to happen! Obviously the first thing I did, was call my husband and tell him the news! He was in denial himself! It really never hit either one of us until the first doc apt!
